Application advantages of chrome corundum bricks


Chrome corundum bricks are initially green in molding color, and oxidation reaction will occur after high-temperature sintering. The color after the reaction will change according to the content of Cr2O3 in the product. If the Cr2O3 content is about 3%, the color will be light red. When the Cr2O3 content is about 8%, it is purple-red. If the Cr2O3 content is greater than 20%, black-red will appear. The higher the chromium content, the darker the color. In addition, chrome corundum bricks also have the following characteristics:


1: Load softening temperature of chrome corundum bricks


From the binary phase diagram of AL2O3-Cr2O3, it can be seen that AL2O3 and Cr2O3 can form a continuous solid solution without eutectic. Therefore, adding Cr2O3 to high-purity corundum materials, no matter how much is added, will not reduce the refractory properties of the material, but will improve the refractory properties of the material. The refractoriness (>1790℃) and load softening temperature (>1700℃) of chrome corundum bricks are better than those of high-purity corundum products.


2: Strength of chrome corundum bricks


The room temperature compressive strength of high-purity corundum bricks is generally 70~100MPa. The room temperature compressive strength of high-performance chrome corundum bricks is generally >150MPa, and its strength is significantly higher than that of corundum bricks. This is because during the sintering process, AL2O3-Cr2O3 solid solutions are formed between particles, between particles, and between particles and fine powders. The solid solution connects particles and fine powders like a bridge, greatly improving the strength of the material.


3: Thermal shock stability of chrome corundum bricks


It is reported that when the Cr2O3 content is 10% to 66%, the thermal shock stability of the material decreases with the increase of Cr2O3s content. That is, the thermal shock stability of chrome corundum bricks with low Cr2O3S content is better than that of chrome corundum bricks with high Cr2O3s content. The Cr2O3 content in the high-performance chrome corundum bricks promoted and applied by our factory is between 12% and 20%, and its thermal shock stability is improved compared with corundum bricks. In particular, chrome corundum bricks produced by adding a small amount of phase change additives have good thermal shock stability.


4: Slag erosion resistance of chrome corundum bricks


Cr2O3 or chromium-containing refractory materials have good corrosion resistance to steel slag, non-ferrous smelting slag, coal gasification slag, oil gasification slag and various glass melts. The viscosity of the liquid phase generated by the reaction of Cr2O3 melt or slag is higher than that of other low-melting-point substances. Prevent slag from penetrating into the brick along the capillary pores to avoid the formation of metamorphic layers and structural peeling.
