First of all, from the encyclopedia entry, "炭" bricks and "碳" bricks are actually the same thing. Since they are the same thing, this kind of refractory brick has only one correct name: carbon brick.
Carbon bricks are high-temperature neutral refractory products made of coke, anthracite and graphite as the main raw materials, and organic materials such as asphalt, tar and anthracene oil as binders. Carbon bricks have high refractoriness, high thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, and good slag resistance. Moreover, they have good thermal stability, low thermal expansion coefficient, high high temperature strength, high temperature resistance, good wear resistance, and resistance to corrosion by various acids, alkalis, salts and organic solvents, but are easily oxidized in an oxidizing atmosphere. The technical requirements of carbon bricks are generally carbon content ≥92%, mechanical strength ≥25MPa, and ash content ≤8%. The external dimensions are strictly required, and general products must undergo certain mechanical processing.

In a broad sense, all graphite materials obtained through organic carbonization and then graphitization high-temperature treatment can be called artificial graphite. Such as carbon fiber, pyrolytic carbon, foamed graphite, etc. In a narrow sense, artificial graphite usually refers to block solid materials made from carbonaceous raw materials with low impurity content as aggregates and coal tar as binders through processes such as batching, kneading, molding, carbonization and graphitization. Difference between carbon bricks and graphite bricks
Graphite bricks, in simple terms, are graphite materials mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke as raw materials, coal tar as a binder, and are made through calcination, batching, kneading, pressing, roasting at more than 1000 degrees, graphitization at about 3000℃, and machining. Carbon bricks are only roasted products and can only be considered semi-finished products. After graphitization at about 3000℃, the purity of graphite materials is greatly improved, and the carbon content is more than 99.9%. Carbon bricks have many impurities, resulting in a decrease in corrosion resistance. But in fact, the raw materials used for carbon bricks and graphite are different.
Graphite sheets are better than carbon bricks in terms of corrosion resistance, but the manufacturing cost is also higher than carbon bricks. When selecting anti-corrosion projects, they can be selected based on the medium conditions and construction costs.
Graphite materials or carbon bricks processed with resins are often used in anti-corrosion projects, namely, impermeable graphite plates and impregnated graphite carbon bricks. The resins commonly used to process graphite and carbon bricks are phenolic resin, furan resin and polytetrafluoroethylene emulsion, among which phenolic resin is the most used.
Whether it is impregnated graphite or impregnated carbon bricks, their anti-corrosion properties are determined by the resin and graphite carbon bricks. Phenolic resin impregnated and pressed graphite plates are used in most occasions where inorganic acids, organic acids, salts, organic compound solvents, etc. are used, but cannot be used in occasions where alkali and oxidizing media are used. Furan resin impregnated or pressed graphite materials are suitable for most occasions where inorganic acids, organic acids, salts, organic compounds and alkaline media are used, but should not be used in occasions where strong oxidizing media are used.
